Children’s Symposium

The Children’s Symposium is a newer initiative that arose from the activities of the Latino Symposium. Organized each spring for regional elementary schoolchildren by the HOLA (Hispanic Organization for Latino Awareness) student organization, the Children’s Symposium is coordinated with the help of elementary education/Spanish students who are engaged in student teaching.

Elementary students from neighboring school districts visit Susquehanna's campus and participate in games, crafts, lessons, and other activities themed to holidays and festivities celebrated in Spanish-speaking countries. The purpose is to promote more cultural awareness and sensitivity among students by exposing them to Latino cultures that they might otherwise never closely encounter.
