Position
Social media analyst, SinoTech Group in Beijing, China
A typical day in Beijing
My day starts at 7 a.m. when I wake up and go to the gym. I eat breakfast and ride my bike to work (15 minutes) by 9 a.m. I finish work at 6 p.m. and head to my Chinese class two nights a week from 7 to 9 p.m. I am realizing how much I have missed the excitement and enjoyment from learning a new language.
What it’s like on the job
I already have a lot of responsibilities in the company. I am the only one who speaks Japanese, so I’m the only one who is currently working on one project for Volvo. I was very nervous at first, but I love the pressure and the opportunity to work with well-known companies and contribute to their success.
How SU has prepared me
I am currently working on SinoTech’s report team, and we analyze incoming data about brand awareness and sentiment. We summarize it into a report for our clients. This is similar to many of the projects I did in SU’s business school, in which I analyzed sites or graphs or numbers to make sense out of them.
