Summer Advanced Writers Workshops
2012 Dates: June 24-30
The Writers Workshop at Susquehanna University provides some of the nation's most talented high school writers with the opportunity to work in intensive, small-group workshops headed by nationally recognized authors. The Writers Workshop features workshops in fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry. Class sizes are limited to 15 students to ensure personal attention and individual conferencing.
How to Apply:
Experienced writers entering 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2012 are eligible to attend the 2012 Writers Workshop. To be considered for acceptance, students must submit a workshop application, a teacher/counselor recommendation, and a non-returnable writing portfolio containing five to six poems or six to eight pages of fiction/creative nonfiction.
All workshop applications and portfolios must be postmarked or e-mailed by May 1, 2012. To apply online, please email name, address, year in school, workshop preference (poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction), and portfolio attachments to gfincke@susqu.edu. A teacher or counselor recommendation should also be emailed to the same address.

All acceptance notifications will be sent no later than May 15.
The cost for the 2012 workshop is $730. Accepted applicants must then mail Susquehanna University a $100 non-refundable deposit by June 1 in order to confirm their workshop reservations. Balance of workshop fees is due at registration on June 24. Checks should be made payable to Susquehanna University Writers Workshop.
