Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)-- This Web site will allow you to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on the Web. Applicants for need-based financial aid will be required to submit this form for all schools they apply to. (Susquehanna University's school code is 003369.)

FAFSA PIN Registration-- Allows you to register for a PIN that serves as your electronic signature when filing the FAFSA online. All students and at least one parent must have their own unique PIN.

CSS Profile-- This is a financial aid application required by some private colleges and universities. (Susquehanna University's school code is 2820.)

Tax Breaks for Education-- There are a number of federal tax credits and/or deductions available to families who are paying college tuition bills and/or repaying education loans. There are income limitations for eligibility as well as some other parameters that may send you to your tax preparer to discuss the best plan for your own situation. Tax benefits related to educational expenses include:

  • Hope Scholarship (actually a tax credit, not a scholarship), for years 1 and 2 of college enrollment
  • Lifetime Learning Credit (also a tax credit)
  • Student Loan Interest Deduction, up to $2500 per year
  • Tuition and Fees Deduction, up to $4000 per year

Understanding your financial aid award letter-- Using this tool will help you compare financial aid packages from different schools.

PA Higher Education Assistance Agency/American Education Services-- AES helps you succeed by giving you the tools to plan for higher education and find money for school, as well as allowing you to manage your student loan account online.

Stafford Loan Repayment Schedule-- A sample loan repayment schedule for Federal Stafford Loans. The interest rate on this fixed rate loan is set at 6.8%.
