Susquehanna University Grants

The Susquehanna Grant Program

• This is the largest single financial aid program administered by the university.
• Susquehanna awarded more than $6 million in grants to eligible students in the 2008–09 academic year.

Named Awards

• These awards provide additional grant assistance through the generous contributions of alumni and friends of the university. Unless otherwise noted, these awards are made on the basis of financial need.
• Students received more than $2 million in awards in the 2008–09 academic year.
• Many named awards are designed for students who demonstrate specific characteristics such as intended major, geographic area, etc. A complete list and further details on named awards is available in the University Catalog.
• There is no separate application to be considered for these awards. Susquehanna's financial aid staff reviews all need–based financial aid applications to determine eligibility.

Federal Grants

The Federal Pell Grant Program

• Annual awards range from $400 to $4,731.
• You automatically apply for a Pell Grant when you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• If your expected family contribution is $4,041 or less, you may be eligible to receive aid from this program.
• Many students who do not qualify for Pell Grant funding do qualify to receive aid from other sources.

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

• This is a federal grant program administered by Susquehanna.
• Grants range from $500 to $4,000 per year for the most needy students.

State Grants

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA)

• These grants are available to Pennsylvania residents in amounts up to $4,120 per year.
• Students completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before May 1 are automatically considered for this grant.
