Scholarships
The following non-need awards, funded by the University and awarded on a competitive
basis to new students, are renewable annually.
University Assistantships: Susquehanna's most prestigious
academic scholarships, these $16,000 ($64,000 over four years) awards include a professional work
experience (ten hours a week on average) with a member of the University
faculty or administrative staff. Recipients typically rank in the top 5
percent of their high school classes and score at least 1350 on the SAT* or at least 30 on the ACT.
Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarships are given
to students who rank first or second in their high school classes in a
demanding and competitive academic program. The annual value is $15,000 ($60,000 over four years).
The following three scholarships are valued at up to $15,000 annually ($60,000 over four years).
Recipients of these scholarships typically have an overall average in the range of 3.75 in their high school academic subjects and score at least 1300 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT* or at least 29 on the ACT.

Degenstein Scholarships, funded by the Charles B.
Degenstein Scholars Program, are given to exceptionally able students who
major or minor in programs within Susquehanna's Sigmund Weis School of
Business.

Scholarships for Distinguished Achievement in Science
and Mathematics are awarded to students planning majors in the sciences,
computer science or mathematics; recipients are chosen on the basis of
outstanding academic achievement.

Presidential Scholarships are awarded on a competitive
basis to new students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement
and personal promise.
Other Scholarship Awards

Alumni Scholarships: Five awards
of $2,500 annually ($10,000 over four years) are available each year to new students who are children,
stepchildren or grandchildren of alumni of the University. Apply for admission by February 1; recipients are
selected by the Alumni Association Executive Board.

Richard R. Green Memorial Scholarships are awarded
to academically talented students to create a more diverse student
body. Awards up to $15,000 ($60,000 over four years) depending on academic
ability.

Susquehanna Scholarships are awarded to new students
who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and personal promise.
Awards are valued at up to $13,000 ($52,000 over four years). Recipients typically have an overall average in the range of 3.5 in their high school academic subjects and score at least 1200 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT* or at least 27 on the ACT.

The Lawrence M. and Louise Kresge Isaacs Endowment for
Music provides $10,000 ($40,000 over four years) to an outstanding music major on the basis
of an audition with the music faculty and exceptional academic achievement.

Music Scholarships awards up to $7,500 annually given
to music majors and selected non-majors on the basis of competitive music
scholarship auditions. Audition deadline: February 23, 2008.

Janet Weis Writer's Institute Scholarship annually provides a $2,500 renewable scholarship ($10,000 over four years)
to an outstanding writing major. Portfolios must be submitted prior to March 1
and will be judged by the writing faculty. This scholarship is funded
through the generosity of the Degenstein Foundation.

Dean's Scholarships recognize strong academic achievement
combined with an outstanding extracurricular record, leadership, or volunteer
service. Awards up to $11,000 annually ($44,000 over four years).

Ministerial Grants are awarded to dependent children
of ordained Lutheran clergy at $2,500 per year regardless of need.

Transfer Scholarships, awarded to students transferring
to Susquehanna, recipients are chosen on the basis of outstanding academic achievement.
Students with a college cumulative grade point average (g.p.a.) of at least 3.0 are considered for scholarships
up to $7,500 annually ($30,000 over four years); those with a cumulative g.p.a. of at least 3.5
are considered for scholarships up to $10,000 annually.

International Student Tuition Scholarships are awarded on
the basis of academic ability, the potential for contribution to campus
life, and financial need.

Tuition Exchange: Susquehanna participates in this
program, along with nearly 600 other U.S. colleges and universities.
Through Tuition Exchange, children of employees at participating institutions
may be eligible to receive a waiver of the first $26,800 of 2008-09 tuition at Susquehanna. If either parent
is a full-time faculty or staff member at a four-year college or university,
the student applicant should contact that school's personnel office for
further information about eligibility. There are up to five Tuition Exchange awards available to first-year students. Selection is based on the strength of students' academic credentials. Click here for a list of schools participating in Tuition Exchange.
*All SAT references are based upon the applicant's best critical reading and math scores. Writing scores are not included.
Outside Scholarships from other sources
Many students also receive awards from outside the University,
such as those from local civic or educational organizations, employee educational
benefit programs, the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, or ROTC. These awards
must be reported to the Financial Aid Office. They will be incorporated
into your financial aid package and will usually be used to offset equal
amounts of loans and/or work.
