Early Decision Planning Guide
Before Your Senior Year
- Research and visit colleges.
- Think about your short-term and long-term goals.
- Take, or retake, the SAT or ACT.
- Consider whether Susquehanna offers you the right academic and personal fit.
September
- Take, or retake, the SAT or ACT.
October
- Decide if Susquehanna is clearly your first college choice. If so, plan to apply Early Decision.
- Apply online. Please click here to begin the application process.
- Request that your guidance counselor send your high school transcript and senior course schedule to Susquehanna.
- Start developing ideas for your college essay.
November
- Work on your admissions application and submit it no later than Dec. 1. You will also need to submit a signed Early Decision request form. Submit the CSS Profile form by Dec. 1 to be eligible for need-based aid. You can complete the CSS Profile here. SU's school code is 2820.
December
- By Dec. 1: Submit your admissions application, your Early Decision request form, the CSS Profile and your and your parents' 2011 federal tax returns.
- By Dec. 15: You will be notified of your admission to Susquehanna; if your admission is deferred, you are encouraged to send additional grades and test scores and are automatically reconsidered for admission later.
January
- Jan. 1: This is the first date to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you want to be considered for need-based financial aid.
- By Jan. 15: You will be notified if you are awarded a merit scholarship.
February
- Beginning Feb. 1: If you have submitted a complete financial aid application, you will be notified of our need-based financial aid decision.
- By Feb. 15: If you have been admitted, submit the $400 enrollment deposit, withdraw any applications you submitted to other colleges and have a strong finish to your senior year in high school.
