Applying to Susquehanna

What Makes a Susquehanna Student?

We're looking for capable students attracted by our academic challenges and extracurricular opportunities. Admission is competitive. We consider what Susquehanna can do for you, and how you might contribute to the University.

We assess your application on course selections, grades and class rank as well as factors such as motivation, creativity and leadership. About 90 percent of our students rank in the top two-fifths of their high school classes. Honors Program students typically rank in the top 10 percent.

Submitting Your Application to Susquehanna

Susquehanna University offers two simple ways to apply – The Common Application and the Universal Application.

Common Application – Susquehanna is part of a selective group offering the Common Application as a means of applying.  You can access the Common Application by visiting www.commonapp.org.  You can also download a hard copy of the Common Application here, or ask your guidance counselor for a copy.

Universal Application – Susquehanna is one of the first colleges in the country to offer the Universal Application.  You can access the Universal Application by visiting www.universalcollegeapp.com. You can also download a hard copy of the Universal Application here, or ask your guidance counselor for a copy

Personal Interviews and Campus Visits

Susquehanna strongly encourages prospective students to visit the campus and interview with a member of our admissions staff. Our counselors are happy to answer your questions and explain programs firsthand. You will have a chance to see the facilities and perhaps meet with faculty, coaches and students. We can even usually arrange for class visits or overnight stays in our residence halls.

Request a Visit Online

The Office of Admissions is open for individual interviews and student-guided campus tours weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. During the academic year the Office is also open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. For an appointment, please call 570-372-4260 or toll free 1-800-326-9672. For an overnight visit, please let us know at least 10 days in advance.

The Write Option to Standardized Tests

Most of our students score well above the national average on standardized college admissions tests. But we know these test scores don't always reflect ability as well as a student's high school record. Susquehanna is one of only a few selective colleges that offer students an alternative. Our Write Option program allows students to send two graded writing samples in place of ACT or SAT scores.
