Benefits

Strong post-graduate success rates help make you very competitive in the job market. Ninety-five percent of Susquehanna's Class of 2005 reported being employed or enrolled in graduate or professional school within six months of graduation. An annual survey indicates that 74 percent reported employment. The percentage of the class pursuing further education is 21 percent.

Experiential learning projects help you gain credibility with employers. At Susquehanna, the number of students with field experience has more than doubled in the last five years. We stress internships, field work, research, community service, study abroad, and leadership roles to help students develop and demonstrate valuable job skills.

A comprehensive four-year career development program steers you toward what to do and when and how to do it. We start with strong academic advising and a career planning course carrying academic credit. Assistance is available throughout your four years at Susquehanna and even after graduation.

Valuable networking contacts expand your potential employment reach. Faculty and alumni mentors, career specialists and visiting professionals share insight, advice and contacts to help you connect with employers and graduate or professional school recruiters. Recent networking events were held in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, New York, and at Susquehanna.

Our excellent reputation means our graduates stand out in the job market. Susquehanna is ranked among the best 217 institutions for undergraduate learning in the country by U.S. News & World Report and is recognized in such guides as Peterson's Competitive Colleges, Yale's Insider's Guide to Colleges and the Fiske Guide to Colleges. Susquehanna is also listed as a best value in Barron's Best Buys in College Education.

A versatile liberal arts background equips you to perform well no matter how your career path may change. You will gain practical knowledge in many subjects and the critical thinking skills valuable in any position. You will also have opportunities for professional preparation in business, fine arts and communications, and pre-professional options in law, medicine and teaching.

Our fully wired campus offers hands-on technology for communication, class applications and planning for careers in today's digital age.

Our tradition of volunteer service is well-respected. Two-thirds of Susquehanna students volunteer at some time during their college career. Many gain valuable skills through the University's award-winning Project House service program, service learning courses tied to the curriculum, and semester break service trips in the U.S. and abroad.
