Why Susquehanna?

Campus Life: Culture and Entertainment

Here's a sample of what you will find available at Susquehanna!

Access to culture from internationally acclaimed pianist Vladimir Feltsman to comedian Dave Chappelle is as easy as a short walk across campus.

Visiting Poet Nikki Giovanni

Visiting artists and speakers take special pleasure in meeting Susquehanna students. Some, such as the Barbican Piano Trio, also conduct master classes. Poet Nikki Giovanni sat in on a student-faculty poetry reading, and best-selling author of The Jew in the Lotus, Rodger Kamenetz, staged a "fireside chat" with Honors students.

Recent Artist Series performances have included Philadanco, The Kandinsky Trio, The River City Brass Band and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The Student Government Association (SGA) and the Student Activities Committee (SAC) sponsor annual events by performers such as Michelle Branch, Our Lady Peace, Rusted Root, Busta Rhymes, Smash Mouth, Adam Sandler, Jon Stewart, and The Goo-Goo Dolls.

You can attend numerous concerts by student performing groups from a chamber orchestra to opera workshop productions, or more than 60 faculty and student music recitals each year.

The Lore Degenstein Gallery presents eclectic exhibitions from the electron microscope photography of David Scharf and pre-Columbian art to sculpture and drawings by Gaston Lachaise.

You can also perform or work backstage in numerous student productions. Recent shows have included Chicago, The Grapes of Wrath, Guys and Dolls, Playing for Time, and The Lark.
