The Honors Program: Faculty

Associate Professor of Management David Bussard

The diversity of the faculty also adds to the richness of the Honors experience at Susquehanna. They are known not only for excellent teaching but also some significant contributions to research or publication in their fields. Some engage in collaborative research with Honors students. They enjoy the special rewards of working with intellectually talented students. You will find them valued friends and advisors as you prepare to enter a career or graduate or professional school. Consider these examples:

  • An associate professor of biology and chairman of the University Health Professions Advising Committee who works closely with students in research on the role of cell interactions in gene expression and cell fate in sea urchin embryonic development.
  • A physical chemist who specializes in molecular spectroscopy frequently invites students to collaborate in his research investigating solute-solvent interactions in supercritical fluids.
  • A specialist in medieval philosophy with an emphasis on metaphysics also explores philosophical interpretations of popular culture from Harry Potter to Star Trek.
  • An associate professor of biology illustrates scientific concepts with intriguing examples from folk dancing to a game of "Jeopardy."
  • A former Peace Corps member and graduate for Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business teaches international business.
  • The director of the University's Lore Degenstein Gallery teaches a course that explores contemporary art issues.
  • A professor of music who directs the University Choir interprets choral masterworks in an honors seminar.
