Arts, Humanities and Communications: Humanities
Humanities include English and creative writing with close ties to the university's Writers Institute. Modern language programs in French, German and Spanish stress listening, reading, writing and speaking proficiency, and include video portfolios and interdisciplinary options such as Spanish for the Service Professions. Majors in the Department of Philosophy, Religion and Classical Studies explore such areas as the nature of knowledge, ethical choices, and the variety of religious expression.
History majors focus on a wealth of past stories to gain the perspective and skills of practicing historians and develop responsibility and creativity in original research. Education programs provide majors in elementary and early childhood education as well as secondary -level certification in most of the liberal arts majors. Students have access to an on-campus children's center and off-campus sites that provide practical, multicultural experience. |
