The Honors Program: Co-Curricular Opportunities

A candlelight vigil in memory of the victims of the Sept. 11 tragedies

Exchanging ideas, opinions and knowledge is at the heart of the Honors Program. In Susquehanna's seamless learning environment, this interaction is not limited to classes. Many co-curricular options and activities complement the academic program and provide even more opportunities to interact with other bright, highly-motivated students.

Our fully wired campus provides access to a Local Area Network and Internet from every residence hall room, offices, and classrooms.

Fireside Chats: Evening discussions usually held in the Scholar's House lounge. Topics have included medical ethics, running for political office, and volunteer opportunities for graduates. These chats also provide opportunities for Honors students to meet informally with national leaders from a variety of fields.

The Fall Retreat introduces new students to upperclass students and Honors faculty

Retreats: Each fall Honors students and faculty gather off campus in a rustic setting for a weekend.

Sleeping Bag Seminars: Weekend seminars hosted by Honors students from member institutions of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). Regional seminars on a variety of topical issues are held throughout the Northeast. Susquehanna-hosted seminars include sessions on Three Mile Island, national issues in an election year and the Centralia mine fire.

NCHC Regional Conferences: The Council also sponsors conferences to foster the exchange of ideas between students and faculty from member schools throughout the Northeast. Members of the Susquehanna Honors Program are encouraged to attend.

Residential Options: Members of the Honors program live in residence halls all across campus. Special options include Project Houses for students participating in volunteer projects and a Scholars' House for students interested in academic projects.
