THE RONALD
McDONALD HOUSE
|
Alpha Delta Pi has been involved in philanthropic work since its inception, at the 1979 Grand Convention, the convention body voted to adopt the Ronald McDonald Houses (Children's Oncology Services, Inc.) as the new national philanthropy. Ronald McDonald Houses are located throughout the world near hospitals, and serve young cancer patients and their families as a "home away from home" during their treatment and convalescence. Collegiate and alumni members of Alpha Delta Pi volunteer to work at the Ronald McDonald Houses, and to sponsor fundraising events for the houses. In 1987, Alpha Delta Pi was recognized by the Children's Oncology Services, Inc. for having contributed over $2 million to Ronald McDonald Houses. Fundraising for this philanthropy is overseen by the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, Inc.

Fundraising
Every year the Sisters of the Gamma Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi raise money
and volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House in Danville, PA. In February of 2006, we
raised just under $3,000.00 at the Ron-a-Thon.
Hit
a Pi with a Pie
Hit-A-Pi
with a Pi is our fall fundraising event at the Homecoming football game.
We sell tickets and for each ticket someone buys they get to hit us in
the face with a pie. Of course it is pretty messy but a lot of fun!- and
for a great cause too!!
The
Ron-A-Thon
The
Ron-A-Thon is our biggest, annual fundraising event. It usually takes place
in January or February on a Saturday. It is a "day for kids" at the area
mall. We have all kinds of games, face painting, fish pond, and crafts for the kids,
as well as a bake sale. Ronald McDonald also comes and sings with the kids
- and us too! It's lots of fun. The proceeds and donations from the Ron-A-Thon
all go to the Ronald McDonald House in Danville.
Danville House Visits
We
also visit the Ronald McDonald House in Danville weekly. Our sorority
splits into small groups to tour the house and to make meals for the residents.
We visit and prepare dinners for the people living in the house at that
time. The house is beautiful and the residents really enjoy our company.
