Portfolio of work
Prospective graphic design majors are required to submit a portfolio of work as part of the application process. The portfolio should include at least 5, but not more than 12 pieces of what you consider to be your best work. When choosing works to include, you are advised to select pieces that are current, show creative thinking, and show ability in more than one area. The Portfolio must contain at least 3 examples of your drawing and/or painting ability.

Please do not submit the actual artworks. Portfolios should be submitted either as slides, or digitally on CD. Slides should be shot on 35mm slide film, with each work shown individually on a neutral background with natural lighting. Digital images should be saved to CD as separate files, in .tif, .psd, .jpg, or PDF format. URLs and email attachments are not acceptable.

If you would like to have materials returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Personal Essay
Though not required as part of the application process, please feel free to include an informal essay of roughly 500 words that provides some insight into why you are interested in studying graphic design and the visual arts. Try to be as honest as possible: donÕt write what you think we want to read. Provide us with some insight into who you are and what you care about beyond what can be seen in your work.
