Mark Fertig, department of art chair, has been recognized in national and international design competition more than 150 times. His work has been published in Print Magazine, Graphis, Print’s Casebooks, American Corporate Identity, Global Corporate Identity, The Creativity Annual, The Book of New Design Ideas, The Big Book of Logos, The Big Book of Business Cards, and others. He has created design for companies such as National Geographic, MCI telecommunications, National Public Radio, The World Wildlife Fund, The Smithsonian Institution, The Learning Channel, Delta/Southwest/Continental airlines, the National Park Service, AARP, and many more. Valerie Livingston, Associate Professor of Art History, holds a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Delaware. Her research focuses on American art of the early to mid 20th century, particularly modernism and abstract expressionism, 1930 through 1950. She is the author of numerous works, including Hans Moller: Purveyor of Color, 1905–2000, and W. Elmer Schofield, Proud Painter of Modest Lands.

Jeff Martin holds a BA from Susquehanna University, and an MFA from Penn State with a year of study at the Art Students League of New York. He is predominately a painter of portraits, figures, and landscapes in oil and pastel.  He was elected a master pastellist by the Pastel Society of America in 1999.  His commissioned portraits hang on Capitol Hill and in many hospitals, universities and corporations around the US. He has had articles on portrait painting published in American Artist and Portrait Highlights magazines. He began teaching art at SU in 1989. Click here to see examples of Jeff's work
Tom Forney has taught courses in graphic design, computer applications, and desktop publishing at Susquehanna since 1999. He has been a professional in the design and advertising industry for over 20 years. He is currently the color manager at the design and advertising studio Phase One. He holds the Bachelor of Art degree from the York Academy of Art.
Steven Leason is a graduate with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design teaches Drawing and Foundations 1 and 2. He currently owns and operates the Selins Grove Brewing Co. along with his wife Heather. His interests include early American architecture and he is currently restoring his 1780 Pennsylvania Log house -- a life time hobby (and money pit). His other hobbies and interests include raising his three children and running 5k races (a recent one though he is not sure why). Admittedly his greatest love is his 11 year old Airedale "Boo". He is a member of the Drawing Center in NYC and a life time member of the Snyder county historical society.
Photography instructor Gordon Harkins holds the MFA in Art from The Pennsylvania State University and the BA degree in English from San Diego State University. He teaches beginning and advanced Black and White Photography and Digital Photography. His work has been exhibited in galleries in California and Pennsylvania. Nick Stephenson holds BA degrees from Susquehanna in Creative Writing and Graphic Design. In addition to teaching the introductory course in graphic design, he works as an Associate Director of Admissions at SU; recruiting students, reading applications, and interviewing. Nick's design work has been featured in Create Magazine and American Corporate Identity 2007. Nick lives in Selinsgrove with his wife (who also works at Susquehanna) and two cats.
