Opening Convocation
2012 Opening Convocation
Thursday, Aug. 23
The term “convocation” has its roots in Latin and simply means “coming together.”
Each year, Opening Convocation marks the beginning of Susquehanna's new academic year as new students come together as a class for the first time.
The ceremony welcomes Susquehanna's incoming class, and students as well as their family members are invited to attend the ceremony in which the faculty marshal officially opens the new academic year. A number of university dignitaries, including the president, provost and member of the university's Board of Trustees, welcome the new students.
