Susquehanna University Sports Hall of Fame Guidelines

Eligibility •  All athletes who competed in intercollegiate sports at Susquehanna University and are SU graduates are eligible for selection to the Sports Hall of Fame. Athletes will not be considered, however, until five years after their graduation. •  All coaches of intercollegiate sports at Susquehanna University who have coached at least one sport for a minimum of five seasons are eligible for selection to the Sports Hall of Fame. •  Any other individual (trainer, faculty member, etc.) who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, has made an outstanding contribution to the athletic program is eligible for selection to the Sports Hall of Fame. Number of Selections •  No more than five persons should be selected to the Sports Hall of Fame per year. The Selection Committee should not feel obligated to pick five members each year. Selection Committee •  The committee should consist of at least 10 persons. The athletic director and director of athletics communications will be two of those individuals. •  At least six members of the committee must be SU alumni. •  The director of athletics communications will set up all meetings of the committee and notify all members. The director also will keep an updated list of names for consideration and will prepare a list of newly eligible athletes (five-year graduates) for the annual meetings. •  A quorum of eight committee members must be present at the annual meeting for selections to be valid. Selection Procedure •  Any interested persons may submit names for consideration, along with supporting information, to members of the committee or the Office of Alumni Relations. Nominations will also be sought through the spring issue of Susquehanna Today. •  All names and information should be given to the director of athletics communications at least two weeks before the annual meeting. •  The committee will meet in the early fall of every year. •  The athletic director will notify the persons selected by mail no later than one week following the meeting. •  The induction ceremony will be held at halftime of a men's basketball game. The inductees will be formally invited to the festivities via a letter from the director of alumni relations later in the fall. •  Public announcement of the inductees will be handled by the director of athletics communications in advance of the Hall of Fame Weekend.
