A Day with Richard Caruso
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award is as distinguished as the Nobel Prize in the business world. 1965 Susquehanna University graduate Dr. Richard Caruso was recently recognized with this honor. Now in its 20th year, the program recognizes the contributions of business leaders and founders who build and sustain dynamic businesses. Caruso will represent the United States at the World Entrepreneur of the Year competition in Monte Carlo in May. As founder and co-chairman of Integra LifeSciences Corporation, Caruso was also recognized for creating a company that has introduced an entirely new field to medical science -- regenerative medicine. James S. Turley, Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young believes that "Richard Caruso's vision in creating Integra LifeSciences demonstrates that the contributions of entrepreneurs truly matter and make a difference in our world." Inspired to encourage individuals to become entrepreneurs, Caruso created the Uncommon Individual Foundation, an organization which helps people develop and follow their own dreams, with his personal interest of inspiring and working with students. An active supporter of Susquehanna, Caruso established the James W. Garrett Endowment Fund in 1984, a means to honor his former coach and friend. While a student, he was co-captain of the Crusaders football team, and continues to serve on SU advisory boards.
