What is the Outdoor Recreation Center?

Susquehanna University's Outdoor Recreation Center features camping, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, and cross-country skiing equipment. The Rec. Center has information and resources available on a wide variety of outdoor activities in Pennsylvania. The purpose of the Rec. Center is to help students, faculty, and staff take advantage of the many outdoor recreational opportunities in our area.

How can I gain access to the Outdoor Recreation Center's information and resources concerning the outdoor activities in Pennsylvania?

Come to the Information Desk located in Degenstein Campus Center and a building assistant will contact the Outdoor Rec Center staff who will be able to give valuable information and resources such as:

• Pennsylvania State Park information,
• Area Camping and Backpacking information
• Hiking Trails and River Maps
• Basic camping, backpacking, and canoeing information

Resources may be viewed at the Information Desk during posted hours of operation.

Rec. Center staff is available for any questions about equipment set-up and recreational destinations through email. Email either Jeb Ramsey or Sam Gromek at ramseyjeb@susqu.edu or gromek@susqu.edu .

Where is the Outdoor Recreation Center located?

The Outdoor Recreation Center is located on the lower level of the Degenstein Campus Center. The shortest route to the Rec. Center may be found by entering the rear of the Campus Center from the door of the addition (closest to the athletic fields near West Hall). The Rec. Center is the first door on the left.

However, the easiest way to rent equipment or find out more information about the Rec. Center is to visit the Information Desk.

How do I rent equipment from the Outdoor Recreation Center?

The staff at the Information Desk can help you with your rental. You will need the rental fee at the time of rental. Most items may be rented for daily, weekend, weekly rental periods. In addition, group rate discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.

When may I rent equipment from the Outdoor Recreation Center?

Equipment may be rented by Susquehanna students faculty, and staff during the open hours of the Degenstein Campus Center.

Can you explain the rental periods?

Sure, "Daily" means up to 36 hours. "Weekend" means Friday to Monday only. "Weekly" means upto 7 consecutive days.

Yes, the Outdoor Recreation Center is interested in fulfilling your needs. If you have any suggestions for the purchase of new equipment or resources,please feel free to e-mail your ideas to ramseyjeb@susqu.edu or gromek@susqu.edu. As we are always interested in feedback from those who use the equipment. The Outdoor Recreation Center is here to provide the Susquehanna community with opportunities to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of the Central Susquehanna Valley.
