Six hours chosen from 200 level or above information systems or computer science courses or other systems-related courses as approved by the information systems department head. |
Information systems majors must also complete PRDV:105 Introduction to Professional Development. In addition, the following courses are recommended but not required: MGMT:280 Marketing, MGMT:340 Corporate Financial Management and MGMT:390 Operations Management.
Minor in Information Systems. Students minoring in information systems successfully complete, with grades of C- or better, at least 28 semester hours, including ACCT:200 Financial Accounting, CSCI:181 Principles of Computer Science, INFS:174 Database Systems Analysis and Design, INFS:271 E-Business Applications Development, INFS:375 Database Programming, and INFS:472 Management Support Systems. In addition to the 24 hours above, the minor requires four semester hours from the following: ACCT:309 Accounting Information Systems, EENV:360 Geographic Information Systems, INFS:276 Simulation Models, INFS:496 Topics in Information Systems, INFS:505 Capstone, CSCI:391 Data Communications and Networks I, CSCI: 392 Data Communications and Networks II or any INFS or CSCI course approved by the department head.
Double Major/Minor in Computer Science and Information Systems: Because of the large overlap in courses in the two majors, the department will approve a double major or major/minor combination only if the student presents to the department a plan of study that sufficiently minimizes such overlap.
