Section One: Register on MonsterTRAK

WHY SHOULD I REGISTER?

Register on MonsterTRAK so that you can store your résumés on our site and submit them to employers. The career center at your college/university will also have access to your registration information and they can use it to:

  • Email you about upcoming events
  • Download your résumé and send it out to interested employers
  • Create mailing lists in order to mail you information

Employers do NOT have access to your user profile/registration.

Part A: To Register on MonsterTRAK

Contact Information
  1. Go to www.monstertrak.com.
  2. Click on the [Post résumé/Register] button.
  3. Highlight your school in the list of College & University Career Centers OR in the list of Graduate Schools & MBA Programs (do not highlight a school from both lists).
  4. Enter your school password.
    Note: If you are on campus then you may not need a school password.
  5. Click on [Continue].
  6. Fill out the five pages, which include Contact Information, Educational Information, Employment Preferences, Demographic Information, and Login Information. See the Registration Tips section below.
  7. Make a note of your user name and user password because you will need this information for future entry into your account.
    Note: You will receive an email confirmation of your user name and user password.

REGISTRATION TIPS

  • Fill out the form as completely as possible. You must at least fill out the mandatory fields; they are written in red and marked with an asterisk (*).
  • Make sure to fill out your email address completely and correctly.
  • If your email address is in use then you are probably already registered with your school on MonsterTRAK. Wait for the user name and user password to be emailed to you. Go to www.monstertrak.com and login with that user name and user password.
  • To make multiple selections or to deselect any choices, hold down the Control key (Windows) or the Command key (Mac) while clicking on the selection.
  • You can update/change your registration information at any time from the student main menu.



Section Two: Your Résumé on MonsterTRAK

Your résumé Online

WHY SHOULD I PUT MY RÉSUMÉ ON MONSTERTRAK?

You can upload your résumé and use it to apply for jobs that you see posted on the Jobs & Internships page. You will also be able to participate in the MonsterTRAK résumé search.

  • You can upload your fully formatted résumé to our site where it is converted to a PDF file and GIF file while maintaining your original formatting. See RÉSUMÉ UPLOAD TIPS below for a list of accepted formats.
  • If you do not have one of the accepted formats then you can create your résumé on the site as a text document.
  • You can upload 10 different résumés and give them unique names.

Part A: To Upload Your Résumé

  1. First, make sure that you are using a newer version of your Internet browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above or Netscape 4.0 or above. You can upgrade your browser for free by visiting the Internet Explorer or Netscape Web sites.
  2. Go to www.monstertrak.com
  3. Login with your user name and user password.
  4. On the Main Menu, click on the RÉSUMÉ link.
  5. On the top, left-hand side of the résumé page, click on [Upload Your résumé].
  6. Read the Release Agreement and click on the check box if you comply.
  7. Name your résumé. Note: Only you will be able to view the résumé name.
  8. Click on [Browse] to find your résumé on your hard drive or on a disk and then double-click on the file to be uploaded.
  9. Click on [Upload Your résumé].
  10. Review the Preview Résumé page.
  11. If you are satisfied with the résumé then click on [Save Résumé] at the bottom of the page.
  12. If you are not satisfied with your résumé, you will need to modify your résumé offline and then click on [Update/Replace] to repeat steps 8-11. See the RÉSUMÉ UPLOAD TIPS below for suggestions that may help with any formatting problems that you run into.

Part B: To Enter Your Résumé as Text

If you do not have one of the accepted formats and want to type your résumé directly onto the site then follow these instructions:

  1. Follow Steps 1-5 above
  2. Click on [Text Editor].
  3. Read the Release Agreement and click on the check box if you comply.
  4. Name your résumé. Note: Only you will be able to view your résumé name.
  5. Type your résumé into the text box provided. Remember that your résumé needs to be basic text and no formatting is accepted.
  6. Click on [Preview].
  7. Review the Preview Résumé page.
  8. If you are happy with the résumé then click on [Save Résumé] at the bottom of the page.
  9. If you are not happy with your résumé, you will need to click on [Update/Replace] to edit or re-enter your résumé in the text box.

Part C: To Upload Your Cover Letter

  1. If you want to store a general cover letter then go to the résumés page and click on [Upload Your Cover Letter]. Note: You can only store one cover letter on the site.
  2. Read the Release Agreement and click on the check box if you comply.
  3. Follow Steps 8-12 above under PART A: TO UPLOAD YOUR RÉSUMÉ or to enter your cover letter as text follow Steps 5-9 under PART B: TO ENTER YOUR RÉSUMÉ AS TEXT.
  4. Name your résumé. Note: Only you will be able to view your résumé name.
  5. Type your résumé into the text box provided. Remember that your résumé needs to be basic text and no formatting is accepted.
  6. Click on [Preview].
  7. Review the Preview Résumé page.
  8. If you are happy with the résumé then click on [Save Résumé] at the bottom of the page.
  9. If you are not happy with your résumé, you will need to click on [Update/Replace] to edit or re-enter your résumé in the text box.

Part D: To Manage Résumés

  • Use [Update/Replace] to upload a new version of your résumé in place of the one saved online. You either need to make your changes offline and upload the new version of your résumé or you will need to return to the Text Editor page to make changes.
  • Your Primary résumé is the résumé that the career center can download for résumé referral. If you choose to participate in the employer résumé search, your primary résumé will be available for employers to search.
  • You may want to download the PDF version of your résumé to ensure that it looks correct (this is the version that employers receive when you submit your résumé to them). Note: You cannot modify the PDF version of your résumé unless you have the PDF writer software.
  • [Delete] will completely remove your résumé from the Web site.

Part E: To Submit Your Résumé for Job Listings

  1. From www.monstertrak.com login with your user name and user password.
  2. Click on the Jobs & Internships link (first link on the main menu).
  3. Enter your search criteria.
  4. On the Search Results page, click on the job title that you are interested in.
  5. If there is an email address listed on the description then you can use your online résumé to apply. Just click on [Preview and Submit résumé] at the bottom of the page.
  6. Pick the résumé that you want to submit.
  7. Click on [Email Résumé Now] to email just a résumé or click on [Attach Cover Letter] to also send a cover letter. You can then upload a cover letter or create a cover letter online by using the Text Editor box. If you have already uploaded a general cover letter through the résumé page then you can choose to submit it with your résumé.

Section Three: InterviewTRAK

WHAT IS INTERVIEWTRAK?

InterviewTRAK is an on-campus recruiting management system. It is a tool used by your school's career center to help with their on-campus recruiting services. When you participate in on-campus recruiting, you will use the InterviewTRAK system to:

  • Submit your résumé to companies who are visiting your campus to hire students/alumni.
  • Sign up for interviews.
  • Find out about on-campus presentations, information sessions, and group meetings.
  • Keep track of the résumés you have submitted on InterviewTRAK, interviews you have signed up for, and other information.

Part A: To Use InterviewTRAK

  1. First contact your school career center to find out how to become eligible for their on-campus recruiting services.
  2. Register on MonsterTRAK (see SECTION ONE: REGISTER ON MONSTERTRAK).
  3. Upload your résumé to the site (see SECTION TWO: YOUR RÉSUMÉ ON MONSTERTRAK).
  4. Go to www.monstertrak.com and login with your user name and user password.
  5. Click on the InterviewTRAK link. Note: If the InterviewTRAK link is not active, please see your career center to make sure that you have completed all of the necessary steps.
  6. Search by date range (mm/dd/yyyy) to pull up a list of on-campus interviews. Use the pull-down menu to choose what dates you want to search (interview date, résumé submission deadline, open sign-up deadline). You may also search by partial company name.
  7. Click on [Search Interviews].
  8. If you want more search options to choose from then click on the More search options available link. On this menu you can search by any or all of the following:
    • Job Type
    • Job Location
    • Degree
    • Event Type
    • Company Name
    • Industry
    • Job Function
    • Major
    • Event Location

    • Note: To make multiple selections or to deselect any choices, hold down the Control key (Windows) or the Command key (Mac) while clicking on the selection.

Part B: Preselect Interviews

To participate in a Preselect interview you must first submit a résumé to the company, which is reviewed by the recruiter. If they would like to interview you then they will preselect you on InterviewTRAK. If you are preselected, you can begin signing up on a certain date. In some cases, the employer may choose a separate list of alternates; alternate sign-up usually begins after the Preselect sign-up begins. This means that the interview time slots may be full before you have a chance to sign up. (** If the interview is full then see your career center or email the employer directly.)

To Submit Your Résumé:

  1. Once you pull up a list of interviews by following steps 4-7 on USING INTERVIEWTRAK, click on the Details link next to the job title that you are interested in.
  2. Read the details on the Job Details page.
    Note: If the company name is a different color then it is a hyperlink to the company Web site. Click on the company name to see their Web site.
  3. Make special note of the Event Information, Deadlines and Requirements tables to find out:
    • If you meet the Event Requirements
      (** These are listed at the bottom of the page and compared to the information on your user profile);
    • When you can begin submitting your résumé;
    • What materials you need to submit to the employer.
  4. Event Information Event Requirements
  5. During the résumé drop date range, click on [Submit Résumé] in the center of the page.
  6. Choose the résumé you want to submit and then click on [Submit Résumé]. If a cover letter is required then choose to upload a cover letter, use the text editor to enter your cover letter directly online, or use the cover letter that you have already uploaded. If other materials such as transcripts or supplemental information are required then you will need to upload this information before you can proceed. To do this, go to the résumé page and upload the materials there.
  7. When the résumé and any additional materials have been submitted then you will see a Success page. (**You may want to print this page out for your records.)
    Note: See the Personal Dates section below under OTHER FEATURES to learn how to remove your résumé submissions.
    Note: All InterviewTRAK dates begin at 12:01am PST and all deadlines are 11:59pm PST.

To Sign Up for Interviews:

  1. If you are preselected or chosen as an alternate for an interview then you may receive an email from the employer. Do not rely on being contacted by the company. Instead check on your preselect or alternate status by going to the InterviewTRAK Main Menu.
  2. Use the Personal dates menu option that reads, "I am preselected or an alternate for" and click on [Display Dates].
  3. Make note of the Signup Date Range associated with the interview that you are preselected or chosen as an alternate for.
  4. During that date range, click on the Job Title link.
  5. On the Job Details page, click on [Sign up for this Interview].
  6. Click on the radio-button next to the desired time slot.
  7. Click on [Sign Up]. You will be taken to a Success page. (**You may want to print this out for your records).
    Note: See the Personal Dates section below under OTHER FEATURES to learn how to remove yourself from a time slot.
    Note: All InterviewTRAK dates begin at 12:01am PST and all deadlines are 11:59pm PST.

Part C: Open Interviews

  1. Once you pull up a list of interviews by following steps 4-7 on USING INTERVIEWTRAK, click on the Details link next to the Job Title that you are interested in.
  2. Read the details on the Job Details page. Note: If the company name is a different color then it is a hyperlink to the company Web site. Click on the company name to see their Web site.
  3. Make special note of the Event Information, Deadlines and Requirements tables to find out:
    • If you meet the Event Requirements (**These are listed at the bottom of the page and compared to the information on your user profile);
    • When you can begin signing up for an interview time slot;
    • What materials you need to submit to the employer.
  4. During the sign up date range, click on [Sign up for this Interview].
  5. Click on the button next to the desired time slot.
  6. Click on [Sign Up].
  7. Choose the résumé that you want to submit and then click on [Submit Résumé]. If a cover letter is also required then click on [Continue].
  8. Choose to upload a cover letter, use the text editor to enter your cover letter directly online, or use a cover letter that you have already uploaded. If other materials such as transcripts or supplemental information are required then you will need to upload this information before you can proceed. To do this, go to the résumé page and upload the materials there.
  9. When the résumé and any additional materials have been submitted then you will be taken to a Success page. (**You may want to print this page out for your records).

Part D: To Use Other Features

To Search for Presentations:

Use this search to find out about upcoming presentations, information sessions, workshops, orientations and more.

  1. Enter a date range (mm/dd/yyyy).
  2. You can also enter a partial company name.
  3. Click on [Search Presentations].

Note: If a presentation is associated with a particular interview then you may be able to link to the presentation information from Event Information table on the Job Details page.

To Display Personal Dates:

Use this menu to track your:

  • Résumé submissions
  • Interviews you have signed up for
  • Preselect/alternate status
  • Bid submission status (**only for some schools)
  1. Just use the pull-down menu to make your choice.
  2. Click on [Display Dates].

Personal Dates

To Remove Your Résumé from an Interview:

  1. If you decide you do not want to be considered for an interview with a particular company you should remove your résumé. Go to Personal dates, choose the option that reads, "I have submitted my résumé to" and click on [Display Dates].
  2. Click on the check box next to the interview that you no longer want your résumé submitted to.
  3. Click on [Remove].
    Note: You can only remove your résumé during the résumé submission date range. Once that date has passed, you will need to contact the career center directly.

To Cancel an Interview:

  1. To cancel an interview that you have signed up for, go to Personal dates, choose the option that reads, "I have signed up for" and click on [Display Dates].
  2. Click on the check box next to the interview that you want to cancel.
  3. Click on [Remove].
    Note: You can only cancel an interview during the sign up date range. Once that date has passed, you will need to contact the career center directly.

To Change an Interview:

  1. You can remove yourself from your current time slot by following the steps in To Cancel an Interview and then sign up for a new interview time slot.
    Note: It may be better to contact the career center and have them change your time slot because there is no way for you to determine which time slots are still available (if any) prior to removing yourself from the interview.
    Note: All InterviewTRAK dates begin at 12:01am PST and all deadlines are 11:59pm PST.

Part E: Bid Interviews

Bidding is similar to an auction for interview time slots, where the highest bidders are more likely to win a chance to sign up for an interview. Bid levels rank from 1st to 10th. Bid level 1 being the highest bid, while bid level 10 is the lowest. Your career center determines the number of bids you are allotted at the beginning of each recruiting season.

  1. Once you pull up a list of interviews by following steps 4-7 on USING INTERVIEWTRAK, click on the Details link next to the JobTitle you are interested in.
  2. Read the informaiton on the Job Details page.
    Note: If the company name is a different color then it is a hyperlink to the company Web site. Click on the company name to see their Web site.
  3. Make special note of the Event Information, Deadlines and Requirements tables to find out:
    • If you meet the Event Requirements
      (** These are listed at the bottom of the page and compared to the information on your user profile)
    • When you can begin submitting bids
  4. During the bid submission date range, use the pull-down menu to select the bid level that you want to submit.
  5. Click on [Enter bid of:].
    Note: During the bid submission date range, you may retract your bid by using the Personal dates menu; retracting your bid will remove any record of submission.
  6. You will be taken to the Bid Submission Status page where you can review your remaining bids and also find out what other bids you have submitted and what bids you have won.
  7. If you have won a bid, click on the Job Title link. On the Event Dates table, make note of when you can begin signing up for a time slot.
    Note: If you win an interview through the bidding process, you will not get that bid back regardless of whether or not you sign up for an interview. If you lose the bidding process, you will receive your bid point back to be used again.
  8. During the sign up date range, go to Bid Submission Status page and click on the Job Title link to get to the Job Details page and click on [Sign up for an Interview].
  9. Click on the button next to the time slot that you want and then click on [Sign Up].
  10. Choose the résumé that you want to submit and then click on [Submit Résumé]. If a cover letter is also required then click on [Continue].
  11. Choose to upload a cover letter, use the text editor to enter your cover letter directly online, or use a cover letter that you have already uploaded. If other materials such as transcripts or supplemental information are required then you will need to upload this information before you can proceed. To do this, go to the résumé page and upload the materials there.
  12. When the résumé and any additional materials have been submitted then you will be taken to a Success page. (**You may want to print this page out for your records).

    Note: All InterviewTRAK dates begin at 12:01am PST and all deadlines are 11:59pm PST.

Bid Submission Status

Section Four: Once You Are Hired

WHAT IS PLACEMENT AND OFFER DATA?

Some schools use this feature to report on how many students/alumni are offered and hired into jobs, internships and co-op positions. It helps them to understand hiring and employment trends.

Part A: To Enter Your Placement/Offer Data

  1. From www.monstertrak.com, login with your user name and user password.
  2. Click on the User Profile/Registration link.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Preview Profile page and click on the Employment Data link.
    (Note: If there is no Employment Data link on the Preview Profile page then your school does not use this feature. You may want to contact the career center or job placement office directly to let them know that you were hired).
  4. Click on the radio-button next to "New Form" and then [Submit].
  5. Fill out the form as completely as possible. You must at least fill out all of the mandatory fields; they are marked with a red asterisk (*).
  6. Choose the job type and click on [Continue Submission].
  7. At the end of the second page, click on [Submit] to save your information.
Placement Data


Glossary of Terms

  • Preselect Interview: An interview in which students/alumni that meet the Event Requirements submit their résumés to the employer. The employer reviews the résumés and then chooses the candidates they wish to interview. Depending on the school, other policies/procedures may apply.
    • Preselects: Candidates whom the employer has chosen to interview.
    • Alternates: The employer may choose a list of supplemental candidates who may sign up if there are remaining interview time slots. This option is not used by all Career Centers; ask the Career Center if they allow for Alternates.
  • Open Interview: An interview in which students/alumni who meet the Event Requirements can sign up for interview time slots and submit their résumés to the employer.
  • Bid Interview: An interview in which students/alumni bid for the right to sign up for available interview time slots. It is similar to an auction for interview time slots.
  • Bid/Preselect Interview: An interview in which half of the interview time slots are designated for preselects/alternates while the other half is designated for bid winners. Note: Some schools also have Bid/Preselect 25/75 where 25% of the time slots are designated for bid winners and 75% are designated for preselected candidates as well as Bid/Preselect 75/25 which is the reverse.
  • Résumé Drop: The employer posts a job description on InterviewTRAK and collects résumés from interested candidates. A job description must be entered and attached to a room, but the employer does not come on-campus to interview candidates. This feature is not used by all Career Centers.
