American Red Cross Van in Flood Hurrican Relief Distribution Trailer

Many members of the campus community have asked about how to respond to the needs of those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Right now, the primary need is for monetary donations. The following organizations are set up to receive online donations:

VOLUNTEERS: As yet, there is no call for volunteers. The first need will be for debris removal and clean-up crews, with rebuilding needs coming later. Lutheran Disaster Response can be contacted at 404-313-7878 or trib713@juno.com or 800.638.3522, x 2748; amy.bancroft@elca.org if organizations or individuals are interested in forming work teams over fall, winter or spring breaks.

PRAYER: I invite all people of prayer to remember those whose lives have been uprooted by the disaster, and for the health and safety of rescuers and caregivers.

Peace,
Mark Wm. Radecke
