Crop Walk

This year’s annual CROP Walk was held on September 30. This marked the 60th Birthday of the CROP Walk which started in 1947 in the Midwest in response to the devastation in Europe caused by World War II. This Church World Service event has become an annual tradition for the Susquehanna University community and local congregations.

90 walkers were present (plus 3 four-legged friends!!) and cash donations received the day of the walk totaled nearly $4500. With the addition of online donations and outstanding cash donations, the Walk has now received over $5,300 in donations.

This year the Walk was also the kick-off event for the newly-formed Advocacy Team.

The Team is working to educate the community on current legislation and to encourage students to write to their congressional leaders about these issues.

Students register for the Walk and socialize with each other before they begin. The Crop Walk celebrates its 60th birthday!
Walkers line up at the advocacy table to learn more about debt cancellation and writing to lawmakers about the Jubilee Act.Chaplain Radecke and the Deacons lead the walkers in a brief prayer service before the Walk begins.
