Deacon of Worship
Laura Lengel
Laura assists in the planning and celebration of the university’s worship life. She serves as the worship assistant each Sunday at chapel, and also plans Tuesday Night Watch, a time to share in informal worship and Christian fellowship with friends.
Laura is a junior Psychology and Religion double major with a minor in Organ Performance. She is a member of Alpha Phi Omega and handbells. Laura also sings with and accompanies the University Chorale. In her spare time she loves to swing dance and is the Vice President of SU Swings.
Deacon of Service
Alina Gayeuski
As the Deacon of Service, Alina is responsible for the CROP Walk, the Peace Festival, the Hanging of the Greens, the 30 Hour Famine, and Lutheran Youth Day.
Alina is a junior Religion major from Pottsville, PA. In addition to being the Deacon of Service, she also serves as the Worship Coordinator for Lutheran Student Movement, the Co-President of the Pre-Seminary group, is a member of the Handbell Choir, works as clerk in the Philosophy, Religion and Classical Studies Department, and is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity. When she finds spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her friends and family.
Deacon of Spiritual Nurture
Amy Troxell
As Deacon of Spiritual Nurture, Amy is responsible for planning and leading the Chapel Council retreats each semester as well as leading First Year Faith Friends and Prayer Ministries.
Amy is a Senior double majoring in Psychology and Religion from Harrisburg Pennsylvania. She is also president of Lutheran Student Movement, vice president of SUN Council, and a member of Alpha Phi Omega and Alpha Lambda Delta. In her free time she enjoys watching Jack Bauer save the world, being made fun of by the rest of the staff in the Chaplain’s office, and practicing Kung Fu with her closest friend.
Student Assistant to the Chaplain
Sara Luley
Sara Luley serves as the Student Assistant to the Chaplain. Her duties include publishing the Religious Life Newsletter twice a semester, recruiting new students interested in Religious Life, and helping plan service-learning trip to Central America through the SU CASA program.
Sara is a senior double major in International Studies and Spanish from Keller, Texas. She is also a co-captain of the crew team and a member of Lutheran Student Movement, a cellist, Vice President of the senior class, and an SU tour guide. She enjoys folk music, roller coasters, telenovelas, and telling people about how great fair trade is.
Student Assistant for Chapel Music
Sarah Weiser
As the Student Assistant to Chapel Music, Sarah's duties entail playing the piano accompaniment to the Liturgy every Sunday in Chapel, as well as coordinating music throughout the service. Sarah finds musicians to contribute to worship each Sunday, and also Directs the Chapel Choir along with Dr. Krieger.
Sarah Weiser is a Sophomore Music Education Major with a concentrate in Organ. She is the Director of the Handbell Choir, and Chapel Choir as well as a member of LSM, Tuesday Night Watch, CMENC, University Choir, and University Chamber Singers. In her spare time, which does happen once in a while, Sarah enjoys watching movies with friends, kayaking, making soft pretzels and just being a goof!
