Program Admission Requirements
Requirements for admission are the same for all education students, whether they are elementary, secondary, or music-education students. All of the information you need is in the Application Packet. You may apply for admission to the teacher-education program as early as the spring of your sophomore year. Liberal Studies majors must be admitted by the middle of the spring of the junior year. Most secondary students apply in their junior year, but must be admitted before the senior year, because state law requires that all student teachers be in a teacher-education program. Once you have completed all the requirements, you should make copies of your clearances and test scores. Put these together with all other application materials in a folder and turn in application materials to the Education Department secretary in 016 Seibert. The head of the Education Department will review your application materials and send you a letter informing you of your admission status. Transfer students must complete all the requirements listed in the Application Packet. In addition, transfer students must have: Students with a bachelors degree or higher may earn a teaching certificate through SU's Teacher Intern Program.
