COURSE SELECTION FOR THE ENGLISH MAJOR WITH A LITERATURE CONCENTRATION
To help you keep track of your own progress through the major, and to
help you prepare for pre-registration meetings with your advisor, you may
wish to consult the following summary of requirements.
Remember: l44 credit hours are required to complete the major
l12 credit hours must be in breadth courses [210, 220, 230, 240, 250,
260, 270, 280]
· l16 credit hours must be in depth courses [300, 310, 320, 330,
340, 350, 360, 370, 380, 390, 400, 500, 580]
(8 credit hours of literature courses are prerequisite for 300-level
courses)

l4 credit hours in a cognate course from the following list:
CT 221:Development of Drama Through shakespeare CT 222:Development of
Drama from Moliere CT 251:Introduction to Acting: Developing a Character
and Creating a Role CT 311:Oral Interpretation CT 361:Children's Theatre
ED 277:Children's Literature
A History course at the 200-level or above. A Philosophy and Religion
course at the 200-level or above. A literature course taught by Classical
or Modern Languages. An Art History course at the 200-level or above.
