  • Jalloh, Alusine. African Entrepreneurship: Muslim Fula Merchants in Sierra Leone Athens, Ohio: Ohio University Press, 1999. This book focuses on Sierra Leone, West Africa. In particular it examines areas of trade often associated with Fula immigrants/pastoralist traders including livestock and motor transport trading. This study also gives some detail on religion (Islam) and politics and how these social and cultural factors impact trade. The objective of the book is to explore the historical role of Fula in the lager economy of twentieth century Sierra Leone as these immigrants became Sierra Leonean.
  • Jalloh, Alusine and Falola, Toyin (eds.). Black Business and Economic Power Rochester: Rochester University Press, 2002. This edited volume contains articles primarily related to western Africa and the African Diaspora. There are several chapters related to southern Africa and five articles generalized to the African continent. This book focuses primarily on issues related to the histories of African entrepreneurship in a globalizing context.
