Colleagues: On this
site you will find all the information required to register for the upcoming
conference to be held April 18 th to 20 nd at Marine
Biology Laboratories at Woods Hole, MA. Kindly observe the deadlines for submission so that we have the
reliable estimates of minimum registration. To keep with the
state-of-the-art in photosynthesis and address current and future needs for
sustainable energy, we have expanded the focus of the Eastern Regional
Photosynthesis Conference for this year. The supply of secure, clean,
sustainable energy is the most important scientific and technical challenge
facing the 21st century. Given the growing energy concerns and the need for
development of solar energy capture, we are increasing the scope of this year’s
conference to include industrial and applied topics on solar energy
utilization. We have plenary lectures
on basic research on solar energy utilization by leaders in both academia and
industry: 1. Professor Dan Nocera, Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, and Dr. Roger Prince,
Exxon Mobil Biomedical Sciences, will both speak to our expanded focus of
solar energy utilization. The titles of the presentations will be posted on
the ERPC-25 web site soon. 2. We are thrilled that
Professor Bill Rutherford will
deliver a plenary lecture at this conference. We thank Professor Harry Frank,
and the University of Connecticut, who has invited him over the pond for a visit.
We have great line up of Silver
Anniversary celebrations! On Saturday
night, to commemorate our 25th conference there will be a lobster (and
chicken or pasta) buffet with a special cake and that nights mixer will be open
bar.
Additionally we will offer a $50 discount to students to
celebrate their participation as the ERPC has traditionally been a meeting that
supports increased participation by students and postdocs! The additional
expenses are covered by generous sponsorships for the meeting. Best
Regards. Wade Johnson, Chair K. V. Lakshmi, Co-Chair. |
