MGMT:102 Global Business
Perspectives. The course functions primarily as an introduction to
concepts and practice of business administration. Secondly, it
introduces the first semester students to academic life in a small
residential liberal arts college. There is a heavy emphasis on
enterprise feasibility, case studies, teamwork, and both written and
oral presentations. A highlight of the course is a formal team
presentation to invited outside professional judges. International cases
and current issues in global business are regularly assigned as both

MG:330 Management of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
Emphasizes small business operations and management, and the theories
and practice of entrepreneurship. Topics include developing a business
plan, small business finance, and selected international examples.
Students will be engaged in a realistic simulation of a small business,
from creating the business, running it on a day-to-day basis, to
potentially exiting the business in some way (sell, close, bankruptcy).

MGMT:360 Management &
Organizational Behavior. Examines the theories, practices, and
processes of management and organizational behavior. Emphasizes
applications of theory to practice and learning from experiential
activities. Topics include motivation, values and ethics, interpersonal
communication, group processes, conflict and negotiation, and
leadership. Numerous exercises emphasize application of theories and
processes to students' personal experiences. 4.00 SH.
MG:433 Preparing a Business Plan and Venture Financing.
Student teams will create business plans for companies they would like
to start. They will learn the importance of each component of the
business plan, different types of financing, and, at the end of the
semester, will attempt to secure financing from a local bank.
Prerequisite: AC:200, MG:280, MG:330, or permission of instructor. 4

MG:434 Entrepreneurial Experience. Student teams will
create, manage, and run an organization. They must appoint a management
team, delegate jobs, hire personnel, and manage finances in order to run
the business. Students will also study several cases that demonstrate
different aspects of the entrepreneurial company. Prerequisite: MG:433
or permission of instructor. 4 SH
MG:435 Entrepreneurial Marketing and Economics.
Emphasizes the marketing strategies that are more dominant in
entrepreneurial companies. Goes into depth on economic trends and
policies to be considered in any new organization. Prerequisite: EC:201,
MG:280, MG:331. 4 SH

Develops skills in negotiation, joint decision making and joint problem
solving through analysis of the negotiating process, frequent
negotiation exercises, case analyses and interaction with professional
