MG:330 Management of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
Emphasizes small business operations and management, and the theories
and practice of entrepreneurship. Topics include developing a business
plan, small business finance, and selected international examples.
Students will be engaged in a realistic simulation of a small business,
from creating the business, running it on a day-to-day basis, to
potentially exiting the business in some way (sell, close, bankruptcy).

MG:433 Preparing a Business Plan and Venture Financing.
Student teams will create business plans for companies they would like
to start. They will learn the importance of each component of the
business plan, different types of financing, and, at the end of the
semester, will attempt to secure financing from a local bank.
Prerequisite: AC:200, MG:280, MG:330, or permission of instructor. 4

MG:434 Entrepreneurial Experience. Student teams will
create, manage, and run an organization. They must appoint a management
team, delegate jobs, hire personnel, and manage finances in order to run
the business. Students will also study several cases that demonstrate
different aspects of the entrepreneurial company. Prerequisite: MG:433
or permission of instructor. 4 SH
MG:435 Entrepreneurial Marketing and Economics.
Emphasizes the marketing strategies that are more dominant in
entrepreneurial companies. Goes into depth on economic trends and
policies to be considered in any new organization. Prerequisite: EC:201,
MG:280, MG:331. 4 SH
Entrepreneurship Emphas;s. Entrepreneurship is important
to the overall economic future of our society as well as a leading area
of interest to students. The creation of new products, services, jobs,
business, and in fact, entire industries, is more dependent upon
entrepreneurship today than it has ever been in the past The importance
of entrepreneurship has become more widely acknowledged and understood,
generating enormous opportunities for entrepreneurial thinking and
considerable interest in the field by students and educators.
The goal of the entrepreneurship, emphasis is to assist students in
gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become successful
entrepreneurship. Students are provided with an appreciation of the
entrepreneur in society, his or her struggle, and an understanding of
how to start and/or manage a business. The classes will enable and
encourage students to create innovative entrepreneurial and small
business ventures.
The entrepreneurship emphasis requires 16 semester hours as follows:
