Dr. Matthew Rousu is an Associate Professor of Economics at Susquehanna University. He earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University. He is an expert on experimental auction design and implementation. He uses his expertise on experimental auctions to study problems in agricultural economics, environmental economics, and public health - topics on which he has published extensively. He also consults as an expert in experimental auction design and other topics for both governmental and non-governmental agencies.
Dr. Rousu's other research interest is in poker. He currently is working on two poker-related projects. One of which is examining poker player's behavior after an adverse event by studying a large data set of poker hands. The other project uses a survey of poker players to gain insight into both the motivations for playing online poker and the factors that affect a player's earnings.
Dr. Rousu has been quoted widely in magazines and newspapers on issues relating both to poker and the economy. He has also been a guest for 30 minute or one-hour radio shows several times for local stations, mainly to discuss the local, state, and national economy. His main teaching interests include microeconomics, political-economic thought, experimental economics, and game theory.
