First Things First
In order to work on campus, all employed students, either Federal Work-Study (FWS) or "Cash," must first fill out two required federal forms:
I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification Form).
You must present this form in person to the Office of Financial Aid along with original copies (NOT PHOTOCOPIES) of the following:
- any one item from List A as indicated on the list of acceptable documents on the I-9 form OR
- any one item from List B AND one item from List C on the I-9 form
Example:
- If you have a United States passport (List A), that alone will be sufficient documentation for this purpose, even if your passport is expired.
- If you do not have a passport, you may choose to provide a state issued driver's license or Susquehanna photo ID (List B) AND an original Social Security card or original Birth Certificate bearing a seal issued by state, county, or municipal authority (List C). Information on obtaining a duplicate social security card can be provided by the Office of Financial Aid staff.
W-4 (Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate).
This form allows the university, as your employer, to withhold the correct amount of Federal income tax from your paycheck.
Both forms are available from the Office of Financial Aid and MUST be completed before you begin working on campus. Completion of these forms is required for electronic timesheets to be created for you. When working on campus, hours must be reported using the WebSU Time Entry System.
