Student Employee Pay Rates

Level Pay Rates Definition Sample Positions
1 $7.15 - $7.65 in increments of $.25 These jobs are typically clerical or non-technical in nature and may assume basic computer use. Training may be necessary but is not technical. Mail Runner, Secretarial Assistant, Cafeteria Assistant, Tour Guide, Sport Manager
2 $7.75 - $8.25 in increments of $.25 These jobs require specific skills and/or technical training. Tutor, Course Assistant, Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, Computer Lab Monitor
3 $8.25 - $9.00 in increments of $.25 These positions require significant background and higher level skills and/or supervision of other students. Computer Lab Technician, Web Manager, Campus Center Managers
4 $9.00 - $9.75 in increments of $.25 These positions require supervision of student supervisors. Computer Center General Manager
E $10.00 These positions are defined by the department for rare cases in which an extraordinary talent or skill is required. Music Performers

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Effective July 1, 2007, no student can be paid less than $7.15 per hour, the Federal minimum wage.
  • The maximum pay rate for any student employee is $10.00 per hour. A student receiving this pay rate would be at a level E.
  • Pay rate is not a function of academic level.
  • Signed contracts for rates not in keeping with the pay rate scale will not be honored.
  • Questions about pay rates should be directed to the Financial Aid Office, ext. 4450
  • Questions about student employment budget amounts should be directed to the Treasurer's Office, ext 4315.
