Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities

Susquehanna University invites applications for Director of Choral Activities/Assistant or Associate Professor of Music. Rank is dependent upon teaching experience and scholarship in alignment with University requirements. Appointment to begin August, 2008. This position is tenure-track and supported by an endowed chair. A doctorate in choral conducting and college or university teaching experience are required. Duties: Provide leadership in the department’s choral area, direct the primary university choir (which currently tours for 8-10 performances yearly) and a vocal chamber ensemble, and teach the choral conducting course required for all music majors pursuing degrees in education and performance. The balance of faculty load will be selected from the areas of aural skills, music theory or history, studio voice or music education. The ability to cultivate professional relationships with other choral music educators is essential, and preference will be given to applicants with significant experience and success directing choral ensembles. This person should not only be an excellent musician and educator, but also an energetic and effective recruiter who can maintain and continue to enhance the outstanding reputation of the university’s music program.
