Phase II:
Nuestra Herencia
These are the Oral History Projects of three Susquehanna University students and each experience is distinct. Each tells of the unique circumstances surrounding their family's immigration to the United States. Although the backgrounds of the students involve different countries, circumstances, and outcomes, one thread of similarity ties together the separate projects: pride.
We are proud of our heritage, and enthusiastic to share our histories with the university and surrounding community. In compiling information on our own families we were able to gain a tremendous amount of respect, not only for the individual struggles that our families endured, but to relate these struggles to those of an entire people.
Latinos are too often lumped together into one category, losing the distinctions of the many unique cultures that exist. Our hope by bringing our projects to the public is that we will help enlighten others to these valuable distinctions. Each culture has its own richness, and deserves to be recognized.
