The Mid-Atlantic Women’s Studies Association (MAWSA) is a regional organization, connected to the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA), which was founded in 1977 to further the development of Women's Studies throughout the world at every educational level and in every setting. MAWSA supports and promotes feminist/womanist teaching, learning, research, and professional and community service at the pre-K through post-secondary levels and serves as a locus of information about the inter-disciplinary field of Women's Studies for those outside the profession.

MAWSA holds an annual scholarly conference in which academics, activists, and members of the community host panel discussions, present their research, and conduct workshops with the aim of furthering the many discourses related to women’s studies.

Through this conference we hope to examine and explore issues that are particular to the lives of women living in rural settings, by inviting scholars to present research focused on feminism in global, national, and rural settings. All proposals are welcome. Student voices are encouraged. Please submit abstracts to Simona Hill by OCTOBER 3rd, 2003! For more information please click on the Call for Papers link on this site.
