Susquehanna University Theatre Students to Present One-Act Plays

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna University Department of Theatre presents the 11th Annual Student-Directed One Act Play Festival at the Degenstein Center Theater. Performances run Feb. 12 through Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. nightly, as well as 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 15.

The One Act Play Festival allows the most proficient and dedicated Susquehanna University theatre students to direct, design, perform and manage challenging works from the canon of dramatic literature. With seven directors, the work presented will range from  a play by Tennessee Williams to a show written by a Susquehanna student. Directors include Susquehanna University seniors Melinda Gulick, Chris Payseur, Matthew D. Prince, Julie Ek, Clayre Waltman, John O’Connor and Kenneth Goodwin.

The festival theme, “Mosaic,” presents multiple stories of fantastical romance, overbearing mothers and soldiers in the jungle of Vietnam. Works include “Date With a Stranger” by Cherie Vogelstein, “Ferryboat” by Anna Marie Barlow, “Botticelli” by Terrence McNally, “American Modern” by Joanna M. Glass, “Imagining Brad” by Peter Hedges, Tennessee Williams' “Summer at the Lake” and “Sacrament of Reconciliation” by SU student Charlie Riccardelli.

For Valentine’s Day weekend, bring a loved one along and enjoy the unique experience of One Acts. Admission is free to Susquehanna University students, with tickets $10 for adults and $8 for non-SU students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from the Degenstein Center box office by calling 570-372-ARTS.
