I-81 Closed North of Harrisburg Through Tuesday, May 14

Those who plan to travel I-81 in the Harrisburg area this weekend (May 10-12) for Baccalaureate and Commencement should allow for delays. Interstate 81 is currently closed in both directions between Exit 70 and Exit 59 and will remain closed through at least Tuesday, May 14.

THIS IS A PENNDOT TRAVEL ADVISORY. DUE TO A MAJOR INCIDENT, INVOLVING BRIDGES. INTERSTATE 81 IS CURRENTLY CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS BETWEEN EXIT 70 AND EXIT 59, UNTIL TUESDAY, MAY 14, AT THE EARLIEST. MOTORISTS TRAVELING INTERSTATE 81 SOUTHBOUND SHOULD USE EXIT 70 TO INTERSTATE 83 SOUTHBOUND. MOTORISTS TRAVELING INTERSTATE 81 NORTHBOUND SHOULD USE EXIT 59 TO PA 581 EASTBOUND. FOR ACCESS TO ROUTE 22/322 WEST, FOLLOW I-83 NORTH TO I-81 SOUTH. MOTORISTS CAN EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS AND ARE ADVISED TO AVOID THE AREA, IF POSSIBLE.
