Acclaimed pianist Ling-Ju Lai will perform a solo recital at Susquehanna University on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art. Lai will perform a piano repertoire by Johann Sebastian Bach. The program is presented by the Department of Music.
Ling-Ju Lai is a concert pianist and has performed internationally at various music festivals, including the Royal Academy of Music in London, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Germany, and The National Theatre in Taiwan. Her unique interpretation of Baroque keyboard music has earned her positive reviews by many. Lai was also named the “Rising Star” by The National Taiwan Concert Hall and The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, two of the most renowned performance organizations in Taiwan.
She is “one of the most interesting pianists of her generation,” said Ilya Blinov, a lecturer in piano at Susquehanna University. “Ms. Lai’s interpretations are emotionally intense and intellectually prodigious,” he added.
Lai holds a Doctor of Musical Art in piano performance from The University of Michigan, in addition to receiving graduate degrees in piano and harpsichord performance from The University of Michigan and The Eastman School of Music.
The recital is free and open to the public.
