Artist Series to Present Brazilian Guitar Quartet
Published on January 13, 2014
Susquehanna University’s Artist Series will bring a Latin flair to the stage with the Brazilian Guitar Quartet, performing at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in Degenstein Center Theater.
Winner of the 2011 Latin Grammy Award for Best Classical Album, the Brazilian Guitar Quartet has established itself as one of the world’s leading guitar ensembles. Praised by The Washington Post for its “seductive beauty” and “virtuosic gusto,” the group’s unique combination of regular six-string and extended-range, eight-string guitars allows for the exploration of an original and unusual repertoire. In more than 10 years of performing, the group has garnered rave reviews in more than 250 concerts in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
The performance is the third installment of Susquehanna’s 2013–14 Artist Series, which brings internationally acclaimed artists and programs to Susquehanna's campus for the benefit of students, faculty, staff and members of the surrounding community. The aim of Artist Series performances is to advance intellectual engagement, often through master classes, lectures or artistic presentation. The Artist Series has been presenting quality dance, music and theatre to Susquehanna University and the surrounding community since 1902.
Tickets are available at the Susquehanna University Box Office, located in the Degenstein Center Theater lobby, or by calling 570-372-ARTS (2787), Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens and $5 for non-SU students.
