SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) – The Susquehanna University Chamber Singers will present their annual Christmas concert Dec. 1 - 2. The Dec.1 show begins at 7 p.m. at The Basilica of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Danville, Pa. The second concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art at Susquehanna University. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

“Christmas 2007 with the Susquehanna University Chamber Singers” will include the traditional Spanish carol “Ya Viene La Vieja” and Frank Ferko's “A Festival of Carols,” which includes such favorites as “Go, Tell It on the Mountain” and “Christmas Bells.”

The Susquehanna University Chamber Singers is a small ensemble of highly accomplished vocal musicians. They prepare and present two concert repertoires each year. The first is the annual Christmas program, featuring carols dating from the 12th century to the present. The carols represent works from several countries and many are sung in their original language.

The Chamber Singers are conducted by Professor of Music Cyril Stretansky, director of choral activities at Susquehanna University. He holds the Stretansky Distinguished Professorship Chair in Choral Music. This endowment, the first ever created in fine arts at Susquehanna, was established in Stretansky's honor in 2001. His credits as a guest conductor, choral clinician, adjudicator and baritone soloist are extensive and encompass a wide geographical area including 14 states, Canada, Mexico, France and Italy.

For more information on the Christmas concerts, contact Cyril Stretansky at 570-372-4295 or stretans@susqu.edu.
