Most of the 2.4 million acres of Pennsylvania’s 55 state parks and forests are within reasonable driving distance, offering activities such as mountain biking, fishing and swimming in 35,000 acres of fresh water, hiking on over 2,000 miles of trails, camping, and cross-country skiing to name a few. Susquehanna University is also located near many skiing facilities, such as Ski Roundtop, Monatge Mountain, Camelback; offering downhill skiing, snowtubing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in the snowy winter months in the Appalachian Mountains. In addition to the Susquehanna River, students are provided with endless opportunities to explore the outdoor world.

The Susquehanna University Outdoors Club exists to provide the entire campus with the knowledge and resources necessary to take advantage of the state’s natural wealth. Weekly meetings provide informative sessions from guest speakers where anyone can learn how to build a fire, use a kayak, climb a rock wall, and more. For the more gung-ho, meetings are a great place to plan a trip, gather interest, and head out for a fun weekend off campus. Past and future trips have/will include(d): whitewater rafting, paintball, fishing, rock climbing, hanggliding, ice skating, backpacking, horseback riding, skiing, kayaking, camping, repelling--- the possibilities are endless!
