Philosophy Club |

What is the purpose of the Philosophy Club? Our purpose is to foster an appreciation for and interest in Philosophy among all students at Susquehanna University. We hope to bring together a wide segment of the student body willing to study and apply philosophical texts, as well as other sources of philosophical thought (literature, poetry, plays, and films) to their everyday thought and actions. Isn't philosophy something people used to do a long time ago? While the discipline of Philosophy plays an important historical role, it is just as important today as it was for the ancient Greeks. In fact, given our fast-paced and increasingly technical world, philosophy and philosophical discourse may be more significant now than it ever has been in the past. I'm not a philosophy major, but I have some pretty far-out ideas I'd like to talk about....Our organization welcomes all who are willing to share, in an open but intellectually rigorous way, a diverse array of opinions and perspectives in examining issues of morality, knowledge, faith, values, and the meaning of life in general. If you'd like to join the Philosophy Club, contact our advisor, Dr. Jeff Whitman |
