Web Publishing Policy - Personal Pages
Personal Web pages are defined as Web pages of current University employees and students. The following policy statements are in addition to the base policy statements.
- Personal web space is created when the University network account is established. Personal web space and pages will be deleted upon the termination of the University network account.
- Personal Web page addresses (URLs) will be published in the web-based directory upon activation and will be publicly accessible.
- Personal Web pages may include information about academic interests as well as information about personal interests, avocations, artistic expressions, and/or links to other Internet sites. Views expressed in personal Web pages are strictly those of the page authors. The University will remain content neutral (neither censor nor preview as a matter of course).
- Personal Web pages that redirect a user to a location outside of the University web environment, must clearly indicate that the pages are no longer within the University web environment.
- A standard disclaimer, which must be clearly legible and may not be partially or totally disabled, is automatically parsed to the bottom of all personal Web pages.
- Quotas are placed upon personal web space for students, faculty, and staff based upon disk drive space, student enrollment, and the number of employees. Exceptions will be considered by the web steering committee upon the submission of a request to the webmaster.
- The University may not use personal Web page content to promote the interests of the University without the express permission of the content owner.
- All personal pages should be reviewed a minimum of once a semester by the responsible individual for accuracy and functionality. All links and images should be checked to make sure they function properly. All text should be reviewed for accuracy. If the pages are linked to an institutional page (excluding campus directories), they should be reviewed a minimum of twice per semester.
