Pre-Law and International Studies
In addition to the Political Science major, the department is
involved with some other programs as well. Amongst these are the
International Studies major and the Pre-Law program.
The Political Science department is a cosponsor of the International
Studies major at SU. The International Studies major at Susquehanna
is an interdisciplinary major. As such, students take courses
that count towards their major in more than one academic department.
This flexibility allows students with a variety of interests to
design a plan of study geared to their own individual pursuits.
The coordinator of this program is a member of the political science
department and students should work closely with her to select
courses to fit their interests or purposes. Some majors choose
to focus on a region of the world (such as Europe or the developing
world), others choose a thematic concentration in political and
diplomatic affairs or international economic relations.
More information about the International Studies major can be
obtained from Susquehanna's International
Studies program.
The Pre-Law program is not a major; in fact, it has no required
classes, but it is a pre-professional program designed to assist
students who may wish to pursue a legal career. The Pre-Law program
seeks to guide students down a path that will provide them with
the writing skills and critical thinking skills that law schools
want in their students. The program is flexible, allowing each
student to tailor the program to his or her needs.
More information about the Pre-Law program can be obtained from
the Pre-Law Web site.
