United States Air Force Academy Assembly
Colorado Springs, Colorado

In 2003, 2004, and 2007, the Political Science Department sent two students to the United States Air Force Assembly. The purpose of the assembly is to have college students from across America gather and discuss the political issues of the day in order to form consensual opinions that can be drafted into a document and sent to the members of the U.S. Congress. The topic for the 49th Annual United States Air Force Academy Assembly in 2007 was "South America: Challenges and Opportunities for Prosperity, Justice, and Security." The program is conducted annually.

USAFA participants, in addition to their participation in panels and discussion groups, can observe handlers of the Academy's mascot, the falcon. After the presentation, Melissa gets to pet Aurora, one of the falcons.

Situated near Colorado Springs, the United States Airfoce Academy also offers a scenic view of the Rocky Mountains.

The United States Air Force Academy Cathedral, a prominent landmark, was designed to appear modern while blending in with the mountains.
