Cultural Events at Susquehanna
Performing Arts | Gallery Exhibitions and Lectures Susquehanna University takes great pleasure in offering members of the campus and surrounding communities access to a wide variety of cultural events and programs such as the world-renowned duo of Miriam Fried, violin, and her son, pianist Jonathan Biss.
Recent performances of the University Artist Series have included the The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, A Christmas Masterworks V, The Acting Company in Shakespeare's Macbeth, with Boys of the Lough and BodyVox coming in the near future. The Lore Degenstein Gallery presents eclectic exhibitions from 2005's winter exhibition, "African American Printmakers," to the current "The Art of Theatrical Design: Process Toward Performance." The Student Government Association (SGA) and the Student Activities Committee (SAC) sponsor annual events by performers such as Jon Stewart, Dave Chappell, Fuel, George Carlin, Our Lady Peace, and Michelle Branch. There are also numerous concerts by student performing groups from a chamber orchestra to opera workshop productions, or more than 60 faculty and student music recitals each year. Susquehanna students and faculty also presented their talents in numerous choral and instrumental groups and in such theatre productions as Enchanted April, Seussical the Musical, the American opera Street Scene, and Children's Letters to God. |
