Faculty Development & Research Committee

  • There is approximately $40,000 available in the FD&R account this year. You are encouraged to submit proposals for consideration.
  • The Guidelines are available on Blackboard. Go to "Community," then "The Office of the Provost." Go to "Documents" at the left, then "2005-2006 Office of the Provost/Academic Affairs," then "Committee Information." Finally, click on "Faculty Development and Research Committee."
  • Copies of the Guidelines, as well as examples of successful Grant Proposals, are also on file in a binder on Reserve under "Faculty" -- in the Library.

Guidelines in Brief

Research grants are intended to "stimulate, encourage, and support faculty research."

1. University Research Grants

  • $5,000 Maximum Award
  • Due February 1
  • Requires 2-3 external reviewers
  • Must be completed within 24 months

2. Faculty Research Grants

  • $2,500 Maximum Award
  • Due March 1
  • Must be completed within 12 months

3. Instructional Innovation Technology Grants

  • Maximum Awards: $3,000 (1); $2,000 (2); $1,000 (3).
  • Due April 1
  • Must be completed within 12 months
  • To support faculty innovation in instructional use of IT in the classroom

4. Mini-Grants

  • $1000 Maximum Award
  • Due anytime up to May 1
  • Must be completed with 12 months
  • A Form is available for Mini-Grants Proposals
  • For Creative Activities, Instructional Innovation, Publication, or Workshops
