First-Year Student Room Assignment FAQ
Helpful Information about First-Year Student Room Assignments
In order to select a housing assignment for you, we need to know some things about your lifestyle. It’s very important that all incoming students communicate this information to our office no later than July 1, 2008. So fill out our online form today! Follow the link on this page to take you to the registration form. You will be asked several questions about your lifestyle and the characteristics you prefer in a roommate in addition to which building you would like. You’ll need to input your SU ID number which you can find on your summer preview day registration form.
- Step #1: You tell us what your housing preferences are. This would include which building(s) you’d like and if you have a particular person you want to room with.
- Step #2: Let us know if there have been any changes. Sometimes when students attend their summer preview day, they meet someone they’d like to room with or find out information that changes which building they’d like to live in. If this happens to you, be sure to stop by Residence Life before you leave campus that day to tell us of the change.
- Step #3: During the third week of July, we sit down with all the information we have available. This includes the housing preference information you’ve provided and any other info you’ve given us via email, phone call, etc. We then use a list of all the students in the class ranked according to when the Admissions Office received your deposit. We house the person with the earliest deposit first and then work our way down the list to the last person to deposit.
No. Since there is obviously a limited amount of rooms in each building, if a building or area is full when we get to your name on the list, we won’t be able to give you a space there. However, we can guarantee that you’ll be housed with the roommate of your choice if you’ve both requested to live together.
During the first week of August, you can access your housing assignment and roommate information by the following method:
Go to www.susqu.edu, the university’s home page.
Click on “Current Students” on the left side of the screen.
Click on “WebSU” under Web Services in the right hand column.
Enter your username and password. You will receive this information in your folder at your summer preview day.
Access the Student section of the login screen.
Click on the link to Housing and Roommate Lookup in the Communications section of your screen.
Meet your 2008 Roommate(s)!!
No, however, we still want to hear from you. Transfer students are housed in vacancies in the upperclassmen halls. Given the small number of transfers that need housing and the wider variety of options, we want to have a one-on-one conversation with you about your preferences. So instead of completing the online form, please email us at stephensone@susqu.edu or call 570-372-4133.
